Cigars for Custom Tobacco

Brief

In the summer of 2013, I interned at the Veloz Group, Inc. in Los Angeles, a collection of startup companies under one umbrella. As part of my responsibilities as the lead of design, I had to oversee the design & production of a whole set of cigar band designs to be presented as pre-made templates to customers ordering custom created cigars (which, coincidentally, was the reason this startup was named Custom Tobacco).

Process

First, upon meeting with the founders of the company, we created a list of themes & topics that should be encompassed. I then delegated the topics to my design team of 6, depending upon who happened to feel most confortable with any given topic. The main goal was to create catchy and unique designs, which were still flexible enough to be further customized by the clients (so that they could add their name/event/dates/etc.).

Result

We iterated on the designs and kept churning more throughout the summer. In the end, we had created over 90+ templates to be showcased on the website. This work was extremely fun, and was the next step after I had my design team work on some new logos for the portfolio startups.

Meanwhile, my magnum opus during this internship was building the UI/UX for an online ordering tool.

Here are the samples from this work. Keep in mind that back in early 2010's skeuomorphic design was the strongest prominent design trend. Please inquire to get more details.
